Blessed with 360-degree views of the nation’s capital, this tower-topping Kingston penthouse has been snapped up for $3.5 million after just three weeks on the market.
The 300sqm, four-bedroom, four-bathroom apartment in Canberra’s inner south was sold by expressions of interest and the transaction finalised last week.
Encompassing the entire top floor, the property at 9 Jardine Street has direct lift access, a heated 17m swimming pool, full-size tennis court, club room, barbecue area and lush grounds.
Selling agent Bill Lyristakis, from Berkely Residential – Kingston, says the significant sale reflects the suburb’s robust premium market.
“The top end of the Kingston market is still really strong,” Lyristakis says.
“In the general mixed market it can be a bit slow in Kingston, but as soon as you’ve got something a bit unusual or a higher calibre, these properties go really well.
“There is a lot of stock out there in the $1 million and $2 million (range) and the competition is fierce. It’s not the price point, it’s just the competition net – there’s so much available.”
Constructed in 1986, this penthouse is one of 27 residences in the Kingston Tower complex, which is set on grounds spanning 5058sqm.
Marketed as “perhaps the most significant residential penthouse ever to be offered for sale in the Canberra region” the property has been renovated and includes two large storerooms, a private double garage and parking for one additional vehicle on the title.
The sale comes after realestate.com.au data released in February revealed Kingston as the most sought-after suburb for homebuyers in Canberra in 2019.
Data compiled by realestate.com.au shows that Kingston netted the greatest number of sales of any suburb, with 132 property transactions last year.
Agents say Kingston appeals to a range of homebuyers with its waterfront location and convenient access to amenities.
