The great Australian dream of owning a new home is closer to reality for 20 Townsville families.
Stockland North Shore has just released 20 new home sites to serve the increasing demand from the First Home Buyer market.
The $15,000 First Home Owners Grant is still available in Queensland for home buyers who have signed a contract to purchase a new home, or a contract to build a home with a builder from 1 July 2018 into 2020.
The new ‘Tilman’ land release is located within North Shore’s Discovery precinct, part of the 60 hectare sub-regional town centre.
First homeowners Allison and Billie Green put a deposit down three weeks ago on one of the new Tilman release blocks of land.
Ms Green said she was thrilled to be investing in a new home.
“We have only had to put $5000 down instead of $20,000 so we have been able to start building now instead of maybe next year,” she said.
“It is really exciting with lots of emotions looking at the all colours and the display homes.”
The married couple are building a four bedroom home plus a theatre room and hopes to move in by September.
Ms Green said the duo were happy to have the option to customise their house.
“We get to decide to make it our own home and we have adapted the plans so I can have a makeup table in the bathroom,” she said.
“My husband is a mad fisherman so we have made a fishing area for him so we have been able to change the plans to fit our lives.”
North Shore project director Andrew Astorquia said the support from the government was giving young buyers leverage.
“It really is a great time for first homebuyers to get into the Townsville market,” he said.
“Not only do you get a brand new home that has never been lived in, but also a new community with an ever evolving offering of amenities close by.”
