The Stirling Golf Club will soon have a new owner, with the property placed under contract more than a week before it was scheduled to be auctioned.

The golf course at Lot 53 Golflinks Rd, Stirling hit the market on February 28 with a price guide of $3 million, and was set to be auctioned on March 31 through Williams Real Estate’s Dee-Anne Hunt and John Williams.

Mrs Hunt said the property had been popular with buyers.

“The interest in it was huge, which was good, and the vendor received an offer that was very attractive to him so he decided to grab it,” Mrs Hunt said.

“The Golf Club has kept the grounds beautifully and it’s in excellent condition.”

The sale included an 18-hole golf course, a function centre, tourism accommodation, a manager’s house, extensive carparking, a 67,000kL water licence, bores and a lake.

According to Land Services SA, the property transferred from Kralingen Pty Ltd to G & J Williams Property in August for almost $2.917 million.

The links is leased to the Stirling Golf Club until August 2024, with a five-year option including a six-month redevelopment termination clause.

“There was certainly strong interest to keep it like that and there is a lease is in place, so they’re protected by that,” Mrs Hunt said.

Mrs Hunt and Mr Williams were selling the golf course on behalf of Mr Williams’ brother’s company, and Mrs Hunt said its location was ideal.

“It’s just a beautiful setting, it’s so pretty and, surprisingly for the Hills, it’s relatively level, it’s not ridiculously steep and it’s just a great location,” she said.

“People are lateral thinkers, and always keeping an eye out for an opportunity, so I always expected high levels of interest and with that often comes offers prior to the auction.”
