Actor Inge Hornstra is selling her tropical family acreage in Macmasters Beach.
Best known for her roles on McLeod’s Daughters and 90s teen series Heartbreak High, the Dutch-born performer discovered the Central Coast over a decade ago when she was renting a tiny flat in Clovelly and realised how much more she could get if she moved a bit further north.
Her current property at 79 Damien Dr is just five minutes from the beach and includes tranquil gardens, a full-sized tennis court, a free-form saltwater swimming pool and spa, treehouse, rope swing and paddock with stables.
“We looked at it once, and that was it. I love that it’s like a tropical oasis in the bush. I’m an avid gardener and I didn’t have to buy any plants, I just picked, replanted and cultivated,” the actor said.
Having graduated from NIDA with a degree in Performing Arts in 1994, Hornstra played a leading role in Sweat, a school drama series that also starred Heath Ledger in his first leading role in a television series.
Perhaps her best-known role was as Sandra Kinsella in the critically acclaimed Mcleod’s Daughters, which was one of the most successful series on Australian TV. She appeared in the show from 2002-2006.
Working on other creative projects from home, Ms Hornstra said that she loved the privacy that Macmasters Beach offers.
“With everything going on at the moment, the place is a true escape. There are lemon, lime
and orange trees, bush trails and beautiful gardens,” she said.
An architecturally interesting home, the property includes soaring ceilings with exposed timber, spacious rooms, a slow-combustion fireplace and warm timber flooring throughout.
A recently constructed cabana overlooking the pool area is a perfect work-from-home space and is Ms Hornstra’s favourite place to write and do her creative work.
Macmasters Beach is one of the coast’s hidden treasures, with a regularly patrolled surf beach, ocean pools, off-leash dog area and the pet-friendly Barefoot Cafe.
The Bouddi Coastal Walk is also on your doorstep.
No. 79 Damien Dr is for sale via Stephen Gittoes and Ingrid Osborn from Gittoes East Gosford. It has a price guide of $1.46 million to $1.6 million.
